PM Modi Advises ‘Whole Of Govt’ Approach Amid Hoax Bomb Threats To Flights: Sources

According to sources, the government is taking the hoax bomb threat messages and calls to Indian airlines “seriously.”

Amid the ongoing bomb threats targetting Indian airlines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised the “whole of government” approach. According to sources, the government is taking the hoax bomb threat messages and calls “seriously”.

It has been learnt that the central government has been able to trace many of the threat messages and action is being taken accordingly in the matter

In addition to this, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology pulled Meta and X on Wednesday, through which most of these hoaxes were circulated.

Centre Pulls Up ‘X’ Over Flight Bomb Threats

On Tuesday, a virtual meeting involving several airline officials and various social media platforms was held in reference to the bomb threats. As per sources, Air India and Vistara participated in the meeting, chaired by Joint Secretary Sanket S Bhondve.

Hours later, on Wednesday, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology blasted social media platform X as the hoax messages are being circulated using the platform.

Fresh Bomb Threat To 85 Flights Today

The wave of bomb threats targeting key Indian airlines continued unabated on Thursday with over 85 flights receiving fresh threats within a span of 24 hours. These threats targeted 20 flights from Air India, 20 from Indogo, 20 from Vistara and another 25 from Akasa Airlines, according to the latest tally.

In little over a week, more than 170 flights operated by Indian carriers have received bomb threats. The Central government is planning wide-ranging legislative actions to deal with bomb threats to airlines, including placing the perpetrators on the no-fly list.
