Reliance Industries Names Ira Bindra as Head of People and Talent

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has appointed Ira Bindra as its new Group President – People and Talent. In this role, she will lead HR transformation across the company. Bindra brings extensive experience to Reliance, having previously served as the Head of Human Resources and Vice President – Global Regions at Medtronic, USA. Her impressive career makes her a strong addition to RIL’s leadership team.

Bindra brings a wealth of global experience and expertise from a diverse range of industries. Bindra’s leadership journey includes roles at Fortune 100 companies, such as General Electric (GE). At GE, she spearheaded transformative HR initiatives that had a significant impact on global operations.

Ira Bindra’s career is distinguished by her ability to drive change across various industries. She completed her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi before earning her MBA from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. She began her career at GE, working with GE Capital, GE India, GE Healthcare, and GE Oil & Gas. During this time, she developed a deep expertise in human resources management within large, complex organizations.

At Medtronic, Bindra led HR efforts across multiple regions, overseeing large teams in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Her expertise in designing new operating models, creating business lines, and managing major divestitures helped improve performance and business outcomes.

Mukesh Ambani’s Vision for HR Transformation

Reliance Industries’ Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, made a rare announcement about Bindra’s appointment, underscoring the strategic importance of her role. Ambani expressed confidence that Bindra would lead the charge in transforming Reliance’s HR practices.

“Bindra will work with me, Isha, Akash, Anant, and the entire Executive Committee to drive transformation across our company for People, Culture, and Leadership,” he said in an internal communication.
